George Foreman Grill Quesadilla Tips

Can I Substitute a Different Kind of Cheese?

All you have is shredded cheddar in your fridge but you still want a delicious quesadilla? No worries! When it comes to this recipe most any melty shredded cheese will do. Cheddar? Yes! Cheddar Jack? Yes! If your grocery store carries shredded chihuahua cheese, absolutely!

Chihuahua cheese is a traditional soft white Mexican cheese perfect for quesadillas. And no, it is not made from dogs. This delicious queso originates from the Mexican state of Chihuahua which the smallest recognized dog breed is named after as well.

Feeling crazy? Omit the tomato, cilantro, and green onion and substitute a portion of the shredded Monterey Jack with bleu cheese. Sounds crazy but trust me. It is delicious. Provided of course you like bleu cheese.

Play around. Try different cheeses. Have fun. Remember, cooking can be fun.

How To Make Vegetarian Quesadillas

Vegetarian in the bunch? No worries. Simply omit the grilled chicken. Vegan? Double-check that your flour tortillas are actually vegan. Most flour tortillas are but some brands are cooked in lard. Simply check the label and then substitute vegan cheese.

Feel free to add more veggies as well. Cooked bell pepper strips and onion make an excellent addition to a vegetarian quesadilla. Still craving a meat alternative addition? Add some vegetarian chicken or taco meat substitute brought to you by soy.

What Are Other Variations for the George Foreman Grill Quesadillas?

Here’s where you can have some real fun. Leftover taco meat? Have at it! Getting tired of your Thanksgiving leftovers? Make some quesadillas with your leftover turkey.

Try adding cooked shrimp or crab meat. Just make sure you remove the shrimp tails first. That could be rather unpleasant and make eating the quesadilla a bit of a challenge.

Add some thinly sliced fresh avocado or top your finished quesadilla with some guacamole. Sour cream and salsa are a welcome addition to your cooked quesadilla as well.

Have some fresh pico de gallo on hand? Substitute the tomatoes, cilantro, and green onion with a couple of teaspoons of the pico de gallo. Just make sure to drain some of the juices off the pico or you may have a soggy mess on your hands.

The possibilities are truly endless and just go on and on. If something sounds like it might be tasty on your quesadilla, give it a try! What do you have to lose? Have fun. Play around.
