With summer just around the corner, my husband would be so happy to hear that I refer to him as a “grill master.” However, when it comes to adding that extra punch of flavor, that’s where I come in (especially with my marinade magic!). With my husband manning the grill, and me infusing our mains with delicious marinades and flavor, It’s truly a culinary team effort in our household.

While I’m not one to fuss over preparing meat for every meal, grilling on the barbeque, especially over charcoal, has been a game-changer for our family. We live in a cold area (our winters are brutal), so the moment summertime hits, we open up the barbeque and pretty much grill everything throughout the season!

Marinated Chicken Skewers Tips
Why Yogurt for a Marinade?
One of my go-to marinades that never fails to impress is a yogurt-based concoction that’s not only flavorful but also tenderizes the meat beautifully. These Marinated Chicken Skewers is inspired by shish taouk – a popular Middle Eastern dish that is often served in a pita.

My yogurt marinade infuses the chicken skewers with a creamy tanginess and is jam-packed with flavor!
Are There Any Ingredient Alternatives?
Recently, I made a kitchen discovery that has revolutionized my cooking routine: jarred minced garlic. While I love using fresh ingredients, having a jar of minced garlic on hand has been a game-changer in my kitchen.

Of course, if you prefer using fresh garlic, then you can go ahead and mince your own for this recipe. You can also use garlic powder.
How Do I Store Leftovers?
Once the chicken is cool to the touch, remove the pieces from their skewers and place in an airtight food container. You can store it in the fridge for up to 5 days.
To reheat, simply bake them in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes.
What Can I Serve with These Marinated Chicken Skewers?
These marinated chicken skewers are flavorful but not overpowering. I especially love serving them with my famous Charred Corn Salad, but you can also serve them with the following sides:
- Mashed potatoes
- Salad in a jar
- Garden salad
- Macaroni and cheese
- Pasta salad
Be Sure to Soak Wooden Skewers
If you decide to use wooden skewers, be sure to soak them in water overnight to prevent them from burning on the grill.
