Baked Chicken Leg Tips
Baking chicken legs in the oven is so much easier than frying them in oil or using a skillet on the stove. Here are some photos of the process, along with my best tips!
Can I Add More Spices?
The best part about spices is that you can add as much or as little as you desire! So feel free to break free from the recipe a little – it has wiggle room when it comes to the spices combination.
Ingredient Substitutes
Feel free to replace the smoked paprika with sweet paprika! And of course, as mentioned above, you have total wiggle room when it comes to your spices combination!
Space Out The Drumsticks
Leave room in between each chicken leg. Keep them in a single layer, too. This will allow the heat to move around the chicken and cook them evenly.
Safe Cooking Temperature of Chicken Legs
Use an instant-read food thermometer to check the temperature of the chicken. This is the best way to tell when they’re fully cooked.
Chicken should be cooked until it reaches 165F.
Storing Leftovers
Feel free to refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days (so long as it is in an airtight container). To reheat, we recommend adding oil to a pan and baking it in a 350 degree F oven for about 15 minutes.
Best Sides For Chicken
These drumsticks may have a kick of spice, but they go great with tons of different side dishes. You can serve them with:
- Mashed potatoes
- Sweet Potato Fries
- Montecarlo potatoes
- Mac n cheese
- Green beans
- Brown / wild rice
- Potato salad
Chicken legs are arguably the tastiest part of the chicken. The meat is always tender and juicy and full of flavor.
For this recipe we’re going to use just a few ingredients to make the so savory with just the right amount of spiciness. It bakes right in your oven for just 45 minutes and the results are incredible.
The only other ingredients you will need is salt, pepper, ground cayenne pepper, paprika and butter. You can always adjust the amount of ground cayenne to suit your taste.
