Use Fresh Herbs

Even though dried dill will still taste delicious, I highly suggest using fresh herbs. They will have abundantly more flavor. Plus it looks fancier with fresh herbs too.

Ricotta Cheese Replacement

If you don’t have ricotta cheese, you can easily use cream cheese in its place. You basically just want a smooth spreadable type of cheese that will taste delicious with the dill and tomatoes.

Add Your Favorite Veggies

This is completely optional, and I chose not to do it. You can certainly chop up some broccoli florets into tiny pieces and sprinkle them on top. Other veggies that might taste delicious on the puff pastry are squash, zucchini, or even some carrots or onions.

Use Store-Bought Puff Pastry

When it comes to working with puff pastry, I highly recommend going for store-bought. Puff pastry can be very challenging to make and the packaged ones are really great-tasting and will save you tons of time!

Ricotta Cheese Quality Matters

For this tomato tart recipe, aim to purchase high-quality ricotta cheese. It’ll make a world of difference!

Defrost the Puff Pastry

Don’t forget to defrost your puff pastry! You’ll likely be picking it up from the grocer’s freezers, so most will need to defrost in the fridge overnight.

Your tomato tart is absolutely beautiful! It looks so fresh and tasty. I’ve made tomato pie before but I have to try this tart when the local tomatoes are ripe.
