Healthy Shamrock Shake Tips

Make A Dairy-Free Shamrock Shake

Traditionally, Shamrock Shakes are green milkshakes made of milk/cream and vanilla ice cream. To give this alternative a healthier twist, we opted to use frozen banana and peanut butter to give it the same consistency.

This little change makes it dairy-free, which is fantastic if you’re lactose intolerant.

Try to Opt for Gel Food Coloring

To make this Healthy Shamrock Shake green, you just need to add some green food coloring. For this step, we highly recommend using gel food coloring. Gel food coloring is a lot more concentrated than traditional food coloring, so a little goes a long way!

Ingredient Alternatives

Are there any ways to use different ingredients in this shake?

Absolutely! First and foremost, you can use any sort of plant-based milk that you like. We opted for almond milk for ours, but you can also use:

For the peanut butter component, feel free to use any nut butter that your family prefers. These can include:

Can I Use Cow’s Milk for this Recipe?

Yes! Although we recommend using a plant-based milk for this healthier-version of a shamrock shake, cow’s milk can still work.

Do I Have to Use Chocolate Chips?

Not necessarily! These miniature chocolate chips make for a great garnish for this shamrock shake, but you can use other toppings like shredded coconut, caramel bits, etc. You also don’t need to garnish yours! You can just drink it straight-up!
