Easy Coq Au Vin
Easy and tender turkey tips are basically a simplified version of the classic French dish, coq au vin. Coq au vin is basically chicken slow-cooked in red wine. Tips for Easy and Tender Turkey Tips
Do I Use Fresh or Canned Mushrooms?
In an ideal world, fresh mushrooms should always be your go-to when a recipe calls for mushrooms. However, that being said, all you have on hand is canned? No worries and it rhymes…sort of.
In a pinch, canned mushrooms will work just fine in this recipe. Canned mushrooms are precooked and won’t detract from the finished dish.
Fresh mushrooms will add moisture and an additional depth of flavor to this dish but are ultimately nominal really. When I make this dish I use fresh mushrooms but it is entirely up to you and what’s in your pantry.

I Don’t Have Any Red Wine. What Can I Use Instead?
Dry red wine adds to the complexity of the flavor in this dish. Any dry red wine or red cooking wine will work. Not a fan of red wine or don’t have any on hand? No worries. You can easily omit the red wine and substitute it with low sodium beef or low sodium chicken broth. No broth or wine? Simply substitute additional water.
Can I Substitute Chicken or Beef?
Absolutely. I mean, it’ll no longer be tender turkey tips but that’s a ok! Simply cut your chicken or beef into 1″ x 2″ strips as you would the turkey. That’s it. No other substitutions are required! Easy as that.
