There’s no other way to put it: when it comes to preparing lunches, I am so LAZY!

Yes, I admit it: I’ve never been too fond of lunch. Even as a little girl, lunchtime at school just felt like a bore. There was nothing exciting about reaching into my lunch box, only to find a cold sandwich, a juice box, and packaged snacks.

I am still the same way today. Lunch cuts right in the middle of my working hours – and when you work as much as I do, time is precious! I can’t be bothered to prepare a nutritious, delicious meal – or can I?!

Udon Noodles to the Rescue!

Okay, you wouldn’t believe this – but I only prepared my own udon noodles when I developed this recipe for Peanut Sauce Udon Noodles.

So shocking, right?! And boy, have I been missing out! Udon noodles are SO easy to prepare. All you have to do is follow the package’s instructions – which normally involves boiling them for 3 minutes, then strain.

So. Darn. Simple!

What’s In Peanut Sauce?

Here is what I used in my udon peanut sauce. All the exact amounts are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Smooth peanut butter
  • Soy sauce
  • Granulated sugar
  • Heavy cream
  • Sesame seeds for garnishing
  • Green onions chopped, to taste

I love hints of sweetness to my main courses, and this peanut butter sauce offers exactly that flavourful touch. Plus, it’s a surefire recipe and it comes out perfect every time I prepare it.

How To Store Peanut Sauce

Make a big batch of it and you can make multiple meals out of one recipe.

Store leftover peanut sauce in an airtight and spillproof container. I prefer a mason jar with a lid.

Keep the peanut sauce refrigerated and use it within a week.

How to Make Peanut Sauce Udon Noodles

Peanut Sauce Udon Noodles

This Peanut Sauce Udon Noodles dish is quick to whip-up and really hits the spot. Plus it’s got tons of flavour andmakes lunchtime not-so-boring!

SERVINGS

Ingredients

  • 400 g Udon noodles
  • 1 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 3 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds for garnishing
  • 1 tbsp Green onions chopped, to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare udon noodles according to package’s directions, strain and set aside.
  • In a small saucepan, heat peanut butter over medium.
  • Once the peanut butter starts to melt, add soy sauce, sugar, and heavy cream. Mix thoroughly.
  • Add peanut sauce onto noodles and coat evenly. Portion out peanut noodles and serve in a bowl. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
