As the weather gets colder it is time to make some hot bowls of soup. Chili is one of the best (and easiest) dinner ideas you can make. In fact, after you make it once, you might not need this recipe again. It really is that easy!

How To Make Chili In The Instant Pot
This recipe is a hybrid between a stew and a chili, giving it a more liquid consistency than traditional. This makes this Instant Pot Chili the perfect pairing with cornbread (or even crackers)!

Instant Poto Chili Tips
Before we get to the entire recipe, here are some tips that I think will help you make the most amazing bowl of chili in your Instant Pot.

Use Fresh Ingredients
You can use frozen diced onion or even onion powder. But neither of those options will have quite as much flavor as a freshly diced onion.
Either white, yellow, or red onion will work perfectly in this recipe. Just use what you have.

Brown The Beef In The Instant Pot
You can either brown the ground beef in the Instant Pot (using the saute setting ) or brown it in a skillet on your stove and then add it to the Instant Pot. Both options work perfectly in this recipe!
If you saute the beef in the Instant Pot, keep mixing and stirring constantly to prevent anything from sticking to the bottom of the inner pot.

Scrap Browned Bits Off The Bottom
Scrape off any browned bits off the inner pot. This step is vital – scraping off any cooked bits off the bottom ensures that your Instant Pot properly gets to full pressure. I also suggest using a wooden spoon so as not to scratch up the bottom of your inner pot.
Add water and beef broth and continue to scrape any browned bits. (So get workin’! It may seem repetitive but trust me, it’ll help you prevent from getting the “Burn” warning while you’re cooking.)

Add The Ingredients To The Instant Pot
Add diced tomatoes, kidney beans, and tomato sauce on top. No need to mix! You’ll want to keep as much of the liquid at the bottom so that the Instant Pot comes to full pressure.

Let The Instant Pot Cook The Chili
Set Instant Pot to manual pressure on high for 15 minutes.
Once the time is up, allow for a natural pressure release, according to your Instant Pot’s directions.
Remove the lid from your Instant Pot and mix all of the ingredients.
Serve in separate bowls and add a dollop of sour cream and garnish with green onions and cheddar cheese.

How To Store Leftover Chili
Keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. This chili is also a perfect thing to store in the freezer as a freezer meal too. It will stay fresh in the freezer for up to 6 months.

How are you keeping warm this winter? Have you ever tried making chili in your Instant Pot?
